Why Race Is Made Up.....And Just A Part Of Your Mentality

MY OPINION IS WHAT MATTERS.....BECAUSE I AM MYSELF AND NOT WHAT OTHERS WANT ME TO BE....AND THAT IS WHAT FEEDS MY PRIDE....-Yours Truly....

“We judge others instantly by their clothes, their cars, their appearance, their race, their education, their social status. The list is endless. What gets me is that most people decide who another person is before they have even spoken to them. What's even worse is that these same people decide who someone else is, and don't even know who they are themselves.”
― Ashly Lorenzana

“Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.”
― Oscar Wilde

“When a man gives his opinion, he's a man. When a woman gives her opinion, she's a bitch.”
― Bette Davis

“If someone isn't what others want them to be, the others become angry. Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own.”
― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

“People can tell you to keep your mouth shut, but that doesn't stop you from having your own opinion.”
― Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl

“Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social enviroment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions."

(Essay to Leo Baeck, 1953)”
― Albert Einstein

“If you're going to say what you want to say, you're going to hear what you don't want to hear.”
― Roberto Bolaño, The Insufferable Gaucho

Race is a part of everyone's negative mentality! Many young people do not understand what race is or understand why it impacts everyone, in every gender of every ethnic group. What this means is that there is a meaning of race that affects all humans because they are considered "not equal." Race is something that is made up and used for the wrong reasons, resulting in negative side effects, especially for girls.

Many young people do not understand what race is and what racism can do to a person. Race is something the Europeans used to rank human beings, judging everyone by how dark or light their skin was. It started when Europeans were trying to take over trade and lands around the world. The Europeans used a ranking system. What this means is that race is a part of human mentality. In the beginning of time there was no such thing as race, there was just human beings. Of course there was animals and plant life, but intelligent life on Planet Earth are HUMANS. There is no difference between the so-called races of Black, White, Asian, or Hispanic in anything. The only difference is that everyone on earth is different, everyone is a unique person. So many people that live on this earth do not understand this and take race to the level that Europeans had during the 1500's. Racism is that level. The level where, instead of uniting us as the Human Race, it divides us and destroys us. Young people believe race is real, that there is a difference between all of us, and that not being White-or any certain race they favor-is wrong or horrible. Racism is something that exists because of all the racist "jokes" and offenses against anyone who is (most times) non-White. This is how race and racism becomes real. It all becomes real because many are killed for it or not given equal rights for it; these people include all people because racism creates hate and is that hate targets its creators. For example: if a Hispanic person is racist towards a White person then this White person starts to hate the Hispanic for being unfair. This escalates to hate between each other and the White person starts to fight back. This has happened before. Slavery has made many "Black Americans" hate Whites for enslaving their "people." Then, there is the racism Hispanics receive for being "immigrants." They are called this because they were not born in this country or because their parents were not born here; this is just the result of ignorance because the USA is a country full of immigrants (Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, etc.)

Yes, it is quite possible that there is a difference in how each gender experiences racism. This is true because you see it all over. In girls, racism is worse because girls are very high-maintenance and care a lot about how they look. Girls care about their skin texture, hair, face, and body structure/shape. This causes problems among girls. A female may want a certain hair type/style, but cannot because it is not possible for their hair. There have been times where this female tries to change the hair type, but the fact still remains, it isn't her natural hair. With men it is different because men do not give a flying fish. They may have preferences and such, but men are more relaxed. This has resulted in being true time and time again because men are not so badly judged like females are. An example would be the time a girl with curly hair would beg for straight hair. This classmate of mine would pull my hair and make fun of it and since I used to always wear it in a pony tail, she hated that. She would get mad and say things that started off with, "If I had straight or wavy hair and not curly hair, I..." That was when I saw that she truly wanted straighter hair and that insulting me was just a shelter for her feelings. She felt horrible because of her curly hair and the worst part was that she was not of my race, so she felt even worse. She confessed this to me one day and said that she wished that she was my race. I felt horrible because her being jealous of my hair was not something I expected. Additionally, I always would complain about how unmanageable my hair was because it was so thick and heavy. This is just one of the ways girls experience racism, they believe being a different race (black or white, spanish or black) is better than the "race" they are originally are from. For males, the more apparent racial discrimination situation that occurs to them is because of their skin color. Other than that, they are not put down or feel bad for it as much as females.

To wrap up, race is something that negatively affects people everywhere. This makes people insecure about themselves and how they look. It seems to affect females more than males. There is only a limit to what young people know and understand about race. Young people use "harmless" jokes and do not realize when they are being rude or "racist." Race is a delicate matter and there are certain truths behind it all that get obscured because of how negative it is. In conclusion, race and racism are two subjects that many young people do not understand and is made up, but with very strong negative side effects.

“One sticks to an opinion because he prides himself on having come to it on his own, and another because he has taken great pains to learn it and is proud to have grasped it: and so both do so out of vanity.”

John F. Kennedy's Inaugural Address

The negative impact President Kennedy believes science has had on the world is that it brings destruction among people. In Kennedy's speech, he says, "....we offer not a pledge but a request....before the dark powers of destruction unleashed by science engulf humanity in planned or accidental destruction...Let both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its terrors." What he means here is that science brings destruction with weapons that are created by scientists; it divides people rather than unite them, by using science's terrors to compare or to annihilate others. Two ways that Kennedy believed science could help the world was by eradicating diseases and exploring stars. In the speech he says, ".... seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its terrors. Together let us explore the stars, conquer the deserts, eradicate disease, tap the ocean depths, and encourage the arts and commerce." What he means is that science can be used differently and friendlier towards humankind. It is just like in like in the World Wars, especially World War II. In this war, science was used to create weaponry that killed many innocent lives.

Kennedy believed nations could make a difference in the world by making serious proposals for control of arms (firearms) and to bring "absolute power" to raze other countries/nations that are under this control of other nations. In Kennedy's speech when he speaks of the union of the nations he says, "....Let both sides explore what problems unite us....Let both sides, for the first time, formulate serious and precise proposals for the inspection and control of arms, and bring the absolute power to destroy other nations under the absolute control of all nations." What he means here is that instead of fighting each other (as nations in war), all nations should figure out ways to control problems of each individual country. He says especially the control of firearms and absolute power in other nations, nations that are in the shadows and need help. Just like in this speech, in many places throughout the world there are countries that suffer because of lack of attention and because of war. This is because no one is truly helping and the countries are all fighting, plunging innocent citizens of that country into darkness and "poverty."

St. Patrick's Day.....Awesome, Right?

The history of St. Patrick's day is of Irish origin. It has to do with a saint and it falls in this exciting season of not spring, but Lent. Lent is a season of Catholic belief, the period before Jesus Christ was crucified. There are customs or prohibitions of Lent, such as the consumption of meat. Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and he lived in the 5th century. He was born in Roman Britain and at the age of 16, was a slave and transported to Ireland. He escaped imprisonment and slavery, but returned to bring Christianity to Ireland. It is believed he died around March 17, 461. It is said that he explained the Holy Trinity with an Irish Clover, the Shamrock. The Holy Trinity is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; the Shamrock has three leaves. This was not celebrated in Ireland at first. Surprisingly it was celebrated in the USA because of British/Irishmen soldiers and the parade celebration of their Irish roots on March 17, 1762. But Ireland celebrated the Feast Day of Saint Patrick.

He was an example of a person who spread Christianity and was faithful to it by returning to the land of his slavery.

Why wouldn't St. Patrick's Day be awesome?!

Thinking Different Part Deux

DO YOU THINK DIFFERENT?

There are people who react differently, than we expect them to, when others step outside the box and do something unconventional. These people do not accept those who behave or make "unacceptable choices." In the video, Don Haskins says to Bobby Jo that, "...I see quick, I see skill...... And that is what I am going to put out there in the court." What this means is that despite the fact that Bobby Jo is black that he will make sure he plays. Don was not going to let him sit out the games and waste his skills. It was important for Don Haskins to think different because with him thinking different, it led to one of the first high school basketball team to be interracial. In the video when Don Haskins says, "..I don't see colored, I see quick, I see skill. That's what you have," he ignores the whole "colored thing" many people saw in African American (or "blacks").This demonstrates, even during this time of racism, that he did not judge a player by the color of his skin but rather his skills; this shows that someone needed to think differently for these "Colored" players to play. It is just like Chris "Alex" McCandless in "Into The Wild," he chose to live differently and left everything behind, to prove to everyone else that society was wrong.

The "Marlin" in My Life

There are many obstacles in life that we all must face. Some seem vague and there may be so many obstacles that you may not remember all of them. There are the problems we have as human beings that test us and we must find the solutions to each problem to survive. My obstacle is something I face everyday. But I will tell you what happened one day when I was in shame and could not overcome it completely. Then I will tell you of another day when I did overcome it. Therefore, because I did overcome it, I can walk with pride. Honestly, I believe it is an obstacle we all live through everyday. The obstacle of being different.....

I was a goody-two-shoes in school and a troublemaker at home. I had straight A's in elementary school and was a well-behaved girl. I was four foot nine with high cheek bones and an OK complexion. I never cared for my looks and my hair was always in a tight ponytail. I just thought I was an OK looking girl with an OK self-esteem, but grew into a girl with an extremely low self-esteem. A girl with no favorite color and breakable glasses. A girl who preferred to just do her work than gossip like her female classmates. A girl who kept all her feelings locked up and was a huge crybaby, just not in front of people outside her family. A girl who complimented many and only teased a few people. A person who cared for others. But...that changed. Nothing but great comments came from each teachers' mouths when they spoke of me. Of course I knew the real me and how naughty or sneaky I truly was. I was just doing my job as a student. A job, my parents had explained, that I was not allowed to fail at. I was never acknowledged for my hard work, not by teachers nor my parents because it was expected of me. There were just small comments and some "Congratulations." It started to anger me when my own classmates became surprised by my angry outbursts or my violent ways. As a young student, Kindergarten to Second Grade, my friends were a bunch of boys. Girls were no fun and never ran around to play during recess. I had my violent side, but I chose to be quiet and secretive. A good girl, in short. Then I met some girls that became my "friends," but I realized that they only became my friends because I was different than them. These girls realized that the only reason I played the way I did was because I was active and unlike them. In the end, they became jealous of how awesome I was (just kidding here) and how I interacted with different people, especially boys. They noticed I was alienated from them, but it wasn't my fault. I was...different.

When I was in Fourth Grade, obviously in elementary school, I was "bullied." If you consider being called-"4 Eyes," and "Nerd," and "Ugly Girl," and "Geek,"- names a form of bullying. I did not know it was bullying and I still do not consider it. It was just torture and a sort of suffering that I thought every kid had to endure. There were several girls who liked to push me, some of them were my so-called friends. They tempted me and called me "LESBIAN." This was never true. I tried to act "girlier," but I could not change myself. How I acted and what I thought were part of my personality. It wasn't my fault. I did not think I was all that different from these girls. They called me an ugly girl and that I was stupid because I did not date. I wished I was like them, but in my heart and mind I knew that this "dating" thing was not something my parents would approve of. Additionally I believed it to be quite childish. Both boys and girls wanted to grow up too soon and did not (still don't) know the meaning of love. People are people. Some kids just did not understand this and some chose not to. I could tell that they were only nice to me because I was a gullible and sweet little girl. The thing was that I was so blind about my want of friends that I did not realize that I did not need these friends.

When one of the many idiot, girly, and rude girls started to make up more names, I went up to her to make her stop. I was a young girl, a 10 year old, who did not believe in violence with the outside world, no matter how far a "bully" pushed me. So I asked her kindly, unbeknownst to me was her true intention. She started to threaten me by saying that we should fight and that I thought I was "all that" because I had straight A's. Her intention was to get me into HUGE trouble. I accepted, but I was forced to back out. I started to see that the other girls did not like my behavior, but refused to comment. Once I was in Fifth Grade, it started up again and this time they literally tried to change my appearance. They told me to wear skirts and wear the "girl colors," as they called it. I was not a fortunate girl with wealth, but I was OK with that. These girls made fun of me and boys started to make fun of my clothing. Some of those boys had also been my "friends." I saw that I could not trust any of them and I longed to no longer be UGLY and NERDY, but to be pretty and beautiful. I wanted to change and be like them. I had never told my parents my troubles and I had confessed it to them by then. I could not take it anymore.

I was not afraid of them, I had a lot of courage, but it hurt my fragile heart. The pain that came with being the outsider, the different one and having no "real" friend. But my mom was better than a "friend or best friend," I took refuge at her lap. She explained that it was the price for being different and for not giving in to their peer pressure. At the time I did not know what "LESBIAN" was, so I asked her. She explained and I cried. I cried like the crybaby I was. She asked for the whole story and I told her.

In the end, my "marlin" was my being different and those who went against it. I stood in the way of my moving forward. I was the obstacle because I let them torture me. I did not tell anyone and I did not ignore their dense and violent comments. Then there was the irrational way I was handling things. Crying was not going to solve things and trusting a bunch of imbecilic children (who I still see, sometimes). I had to grow up and accept that these people were not my friends, just a bunch of acquaintances. This situation symbolized a new step I had to take. I had to learn to accept myself. But I did not choose to lift my self-esteem, instead I am so traumatized that I accept the fact that I am a ugly and different girl. I did not fully overcome this obstacle. I stood up to these girls and abandoned them. I treated everyone similarly, but did not consider them friends. I was different, just like everyone is different. This obstacle led to this next one.

This next obstacle was easier. I am into K POP as you all know. K POP is a genre of music, Korean pop. Well, what led to this was my obsession with Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, and Yu-Gi-Oh as a kid. I found out there were mangas, comic books, that I could read. My sister started to watch Anime with me on TV. We also started to read mangas and were hooked. I loved it and books with pictures made it easy to read. I never told anyone for fear of some misunderstanding. I did not want to go through another set of people mocking me. The opening songs were in Japanese and the translation was on the screen. I fell in love with the characters and the songs. I am a music person and I love it, so when I say "it's good," it is good. So, I would watch the videos and it led to these K POP songs. My sister showed me the videos and we both fell in love with the beautiful music. My thing was always piano music, I love it, so one of the first K POP songs had a piano intro. Fiction by BEAST/B2ST was my favorite, plus their voices were AMAZING. Additionally, the guys were not that bad to look at.(LOL) Hello by SHINee was my favorite as well and I also loved the complicated dances. I did not tell anyone because I did not want to judged. But I started to see that there were other people with similar interests, so I slowly started to talk about my favorite things. I started to talk so much that a girl that is close to me got bored one time (we are a pair, friends, a real "friend"). I felt really bad, but I explained a little to her and she is one of the only ones who accepts me for who I am. This obstacle was the same, just shrunken in size, my different interests compared to many people. I feel confident, as I entered high school, that I have no problem anymore. I even presented it to my English class. I am a strange girl, but who cares?

I no longer care for idiots or chase after them. I am mean now and tough because of my obstacles. I don't have to take any garbage. I grew mature and I grew to accept myself. Any obstacle that is here is because I let it be in front of me. I just have to overcome it. It was always my decision on whether or not I would have obstacles, my decision is to overcome them. I still talked to the "bullies," but I didn't take their garbage after this and we graduated elementary school together. This started to form my heart of stone. I became stronger after this obstacle. I am much more sure of myself than I was as a child. I know my opinion and I stick by it. I know the person I want to be. I am sure this obstacle happens to you, hopefully you will learn from it as well. There is hope that you will understand others that are different from you as well. I do....

Valentine's Day......The Harsh Truth....

BY THE WAY, I HATE VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!
The history of Valentine's Day revolves around a saint named St. Valentine. St. Valentine was a cleric, a person of the clergy/church, that married couples in the time of the Roman Emperor Claudius II, 270 AD. He was a bishop. Claudius II did not accept marriages because he believed that marriages distracted the young men that were in the army/military of Rome. St. Valentine married them in secret. He became a martyr because he was killed for his actions. He was killed on February 14.
There are two versions of this story.
There is the version that St.Valentine was imprisoned and before he died he fell in love with his guard's daughter. He wrote a letter to her before they executed him, a signature phrase, "From your Valentine." And he died, a martyr. The other version is the Roman Catholic version of his becoming a saint. He was aided by the daughter of his guard. She helped take care of him and they became friends. He wrote a letter to her and had that same phrase. He died because he would not obey the emperor's law and he disobeyed because he was protecting his religion. He became a martyr for bravely dying for his faith. This phrase is what started the greeting card holiday and since his Saint Day is February 14th, all the more reason.

Broken heart - broken-hearts PhotoThis graph shows, according to Facebook, the number of breakups during the year. Here is my advice: You smart-alecs, the reason you are no longer in a relationship is because you are with an idiot or a greedy girlfriend. These are not the types of people you want to date. The reason the girl you are with broke up with you on Valentine's Day is because she wants expensive garbage that you can't get. Date a girl who is worth it and who isn't like that. Another piece of advice is that you need to be careful during the two weeks before Christmas. If you are committed to this other "half of you" then don't complain about going to visit parents or family. Who knows what could happen? Now if you are not, then don't go. Don't give your partner the wrong message, that will lead to BREAKUPVILLE. Good luck!

Personifying Days of The Week......

Personification is when we describe inanimate objects as a real object. It is giving life to inanimate objects. It gives human qualities to the objects.

Sunday is lazy. He move slowly and sluggishly. Sunday likes to chill out and rest.He is a good friend that tells you to relax and enjoy your life. His friends are workaholics and he is the least stressed out of the seven of them. When they see him they say, "Hey, we can relax, it's Sunday." He is one of Sunday slowly prepares himself for his friends. But he knows he soon has to meet up with his worst friend, Monday.

Monday is very bright and girly. She likes being annoying and getting people to work. She crushes you with all her might, knowing you are tired. She puts salt on everyone's wounds even though she is a girly girl. She enjoys getting what she wants. She gets what she wants when you are in misery and at (school or work) work, bored to death. She gets nicer as she sees her best friend Tuesday.

Tuesday is not a big deal because she is very boring. She does what she is supposed to do and is not into torturing you like Monday. She is calmer, but is strict with her work. She is slower than Monday. It gets awkward with her and you feel like Wednesday is a better person to meet.

Wednesday is neutral. He is close to all his friends and favors none. Monday and Tuesday love how he is unbiased. Wednesday keeps to himself at times and can be very quiet. But he is also sneaky and is very astute. He knows how to get out of his problems by being very clever.

Thursday is a fun and smart guy. He loves to party, but takes care of business first. He is relaxing like Sunday, but a workaholic like Tuesday. Thursday is best friends with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday because they all love that party life. He is just more responsible than the rest of his friends.

Friday is a serious party person. He goes all out with the parties. He makes sure no one is left out and the party is stress-free. He has all the snacks ready and invites all his friends because he knows they will a  great time. He kicks anyone who messes with his flow. He hates work and loves the weekend because of the lack of work. He is the one who loves going out rather than staying home. Sunday is the one who stays home the most and Friday goes out the most. He goes out and dances in front of people in the street (like the guy in the video above, a total party person).

Saturday could be Friday's girlfriend because she loves the party life, but she does not go out as much as Friday. Saturday is calmer, but she goes out a lot with Friday. She is a very expressive person. She makes the atmosphere light and happy. Everyone loves Saturday, she is a good friend and is a very inviting person. She dances, while singing, more than Friday and more professionally as well. (Videos below!)
